Change is inevitable, suffering isn’t. The troubles that bring you to therapy can also lead you to a fuller, happier, more satisfying life. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I am trained to work collaboratively with you, your significant others, and your other healthcare providers. I help you not just cope with problems, but cut to the heart of the matter to resolve them in ways that give you a renewed sense of faith in your own in abilities, and skills you can use long after therapy ends.
My clients
Providing therapy in New York City, I am fortunate to work with people from all walks of life and from all over the globe. While most of my work is with couples and families, I also work with many individuals in the arts, education, business, and those going through career, family and other major life transitions.
How I Work
I have found it to be very true that “a problem well stated is half solved”. Before we meet in person, our work together begins when you fill out a questionnaire designed to help you clarify what you want to achieve in therapy, and how you will know you’ve reached your goals. Your starting to think this through, and my having your information before our first meeting, gives me a chance to think about how I can be helpful, so we can work productively right from the start of the first session. During the course of our work together, I check in frequently with you to see how you are progressing, so I can be sure we are meeting your goals, and make corrections as needed.
Many issues can be resolved in 6 - 20 sessions or less. We meet more frequently in the beginning, typically once a week (sessions are 50 minutes long and begin on the hour). I get to know not just what your concerns are, but what you’ve noticed helps you, and what basically works well in your life, so we can build the strengths and resources you may have forgotten you possess due to your current stresses.
I practice therapy as an active, engaging, and, quite often, enjoyable process. My approach is collaborative, direct and interactive. I find out what helps you learn, grow, and make changes. I tailor my approach to your needs, preferences, and unique situation. Depending on what works best for you, I will suggest something to for you to do, read, watch, listen to or think about between sessions. As you work at it, and things get better for you, we will begin to meet less often, tapering off as your situation continues to improve.
“Thank you so much for being such a support and always encouraging.”
